The United Methodist Women at Church of the Palms, are a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.
They are committed to:
Channeling efforts and resources to provide for those in need
Growing in faith through relationships with each other
Being agents of change by analyzing systems that promote oppression and seeking alternatives to those systems
Living out their faith by being involved in acts of justice and mercy
Creating and seeking opportunities to participate in church and society
All this is accomplished through prayer and reflection; education on mission and studies; interaction with people from diverse communities and background to mention a few.
The 2012 president of the United Methodist Women (UMW) is Lee McSavaney.
