Church of the Palms provides overnight lodging and meals for three to five families (up to about 14 individuals) for one week each. We are trying to have this occur about every three months. Affiliate “guests” stay in our congregation from 6:00 p.m. until about 7:00 a.m.
Here are some of the ways that you can assist:
• Sunday Set-Up (after Sunday services)
Join a team to transform classrooms and fellowship hall in Christian Life Center to host guests for the week.
• Dinner/Evening Host (5:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.)
You will be part of a team of at least two individuals providing food for an evening meal. You will help to serve and share the meal with the guests. After clean up, you will remain to host until the overnight hosts arrive.
• Overnight Host (8:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m.)
You will be part of a team of at least two individuals who will spend the night with guests. They will wake guests and help to set out breakfast items for them to eat before leaving for the day.
• Sunday Take Down (7:00 a.m. after host week)
Join a team to transform classrooms and fellowship hall in Christian Life Center back to accommodate church activities.
Be a part of a team of individuals that will wash soiled bedding, towels and bath mats and return it to COTP ready for our next hosting.
• Breakfast/Lunch Food
Be a part of a team of individuals that brings food items for guests to use in preparing their breakfast and lunches.
• Pre-Clean & Toiletries
Be part of a team of individuals who will prepare common spaces & materials for our guests. You will also help bag toiletries for our guests to use during their stay.
• Cleaning Crew
Be a part of a team that will come at 7:00 a.m. when the families exit the building to help clean the common rooms – kitchen, fellowship hall, portico narthex and restrooms.
