Realizing the important role pets play in people's lives, Church of the Palms will offer a special "Blessing of the Animals" on Sunday, October 7, at 3 p.m. on the church grounds.
All animals are welcome provided they are under physical control (leash, harness, or crate), are safe to be around others and comply with appropriate ordinances. If your pet is unable to be present, an article representing them (picture, collar, toy, halter, etc.) will be blessed on their behalf.
A blessing of animals witnesses to the world God's love and the Church's concern for creation. As we recognize our mutual interdependence with God's creatures, the Church's witness of stewardship is strengthened.
"Blessed are you, Lord God, maker of all living creatures. You called forth fish in the sea, birds in the air and animals on the land. You inspired St. Francis to call all of them his brothers and sisters. We ask you to bless this pet. By the power of your love, enable it to live according to your plan. May we always praise you for all your beauty in creation. Blessed are you, Lord our God, in all your creatures! Amen."
