The Church of the Palms'Cchoir is holding a "Quarter Auction" on Wednesday, July 17, at 5:30 p.m. in the Christian Life Center to raise money for their trip to NYC.
The choir is not auctioning off quarters but instead, participants will use quarters they bring to bid on almost 40 different items that evening.
A Quarter Auction is a fun, fast-paced party event where winners get items for a 25 cents, 50 cents, 75 cents or $1.00.
The items are all new that have been gathered by choir members from area stores. Items include interior decor items, jewelry, gift cards, and certificates and a special one of a kind mystery dinner prepared and served by the church staff.
Here is how a Quarter Auction works. Participants will purchase an auction paddle for $5.00 and from 5 to 5:30 pm preview the items to be auctioned.
The auction begins at 5:30 with the first item. The Auctioneer will describe the items and announce the bid in quarters. If you are interested in the item simply put the number of bid quarters in the bowl on your table and raise your paddle in the air. After the quarters are collected the bidding ends. The winner of the item is determined by drawing numbered ping-pong balls out of a large jar. The first drawn number that matches a raised paddle is the winner of the item. This process repeats until all items have been auctioned.
Snacks and beverages will be available. Reserve your seat by using SignUpGenius or register in the notebook in the Gathering areas.
