Youth participating in the United Methodist Church’s “Salkehatchie Summer Youth Service” ministry arrived in the Lowcountry this past Saturday. Camping out at the Thomas Heyward Academy in Ridgeland, the 30 youth and adults, are focusing on three different homes. Each home is receiving different repairs from a ramp to replacement of floors and plumbing.
One of the three teams is replacing the roof on the home of Ms. Evelyn, a gracious lady who due to an extended hospitalization is currently unable to work. Her home suffered some decline during her illness, so the Salkehatchie Youth are busy making repairs, including installing a new roof.
Church of the Palms’ Children, Youth, and Family Ministries, directed by Portia Foden, provided the Monday evening meal for the missioners.
Please keep these young people and their adult leaders in your prayers, remembering to give “thanks” to God for their willingness to serve our neighbors.
