Whom Are You Really Serving?
In Luke 10:38-42, the Gospel scripture for this Saturday and Sunday we find the story of Martha and Mary, in their home, when Jesus and his disciples (and likely a lot more) show up. The result is a tension that develops that many of us can identify with, especially in trying to BE the Church - the tension between DOING and BEING.
After all, we are called and encouraged to center ourselves in the love and grace of God. But then there are all those many tasks and details that also need attention, OUR attention. So what do we do? Or perhaps we should ask, "How should we do it?"
Mary and Martha and their interactions with Jesus have much to teach us, even today.
So, come this Saturday at 5:30 p.m. to our contemporary worship experience, the “Gathering” or on Sunday morning to one of our two classic style worship services at 8:30 a.m. and 11 a.m., as we go deeper in the struggle to answer the question “Whom are you REALLY serving?”
Holy Communion will be shared this Sunday with everyone at the two classic services on Sunday.
